You versus the clock
You start alone on a closed route and string the checkpoints together. The clock starts on GO and only stops at the finish.
No opponent, no excuse: one route, one clock and your line. Everyone drives the same car, so the times compare directly.

The car is set by the season. No garage advantage: what separates two times is the racing line and the braking.
Car flipped or wrecked? You respawn at the last checkpoint you cleared, clock still running. And you can restart the race as many times as you like.
Only your best time counts. The top of each race is rewarded when the season rolls over, then the counters reset.
